The History of Punky's
Punky's was started in May 2003 by owners Mike and Joyce Carr after buying Beske's
Dairy Bar, a long-time Buena Vista ice cream and burger shop. Mike continues to
own the Farmers Insurance Agencies in Buena Vista and Leadville. Joyce was a
teacher at Darren Patterson Christian Academy for several years before resigning
to become full time manager of Punky's when it opened.
Punky's has been a favorite hangout for the BV locals since it opened May 19th,
2003. It's decor reflects a 50's Diner/Malt Shop theme, but it's food is what
sets it apart and keeps the locals happy. We are especially known for our
hand-battered chicken strips, large juicy burgers grilled to perfection, and our
delicious hickory smoked pork, beef, and ribs. We also offer the only hard
pack ice cream in Buena Vista, with 14 flavors and your choice of toppings,
shakes, sundaes, smoothies and our special dessert, cheesecake-on-a-stick. If
that's still not enough, we also offer BV's biggest and best subs and wraps,
fresh salads, and Colorado's biggest ice cream sundae, The Mt. Punky, 14 scoops
of pure ice cream delight!
It is our goal to offer you a fun, affordable dining experience that the whole
